They discuss best practices for educating caregivers about post-circumcision care and explain a physical therapy technique that is shared with caregivers to aid in the healing process.

Dr. Farhat is a professor and the chief of pediatric urology at the University of Wisconsin, American family Children’s Hospital, Madison. Dr. Farhat clinical expertise is in minimally invasive surgery and various common pediatric urological procedures. He has particular interest in the interface between engineers and surgeons on methods and strategies to enhance and improve surgical education, simulation models and skills acquisition. Dr Farhat’s research currently focuses on surgical outcomes with emphasis on the cost effectiveness of different surgical approaches.

Nicole Baumann-Blackmore, MD, FAAP, IBCLC is a clinical associate professor at the University of Wisconsin and practicing Newborn Hospitalist at UnityPoint Health-Meriter Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. She attended medical school at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, graduating in 2005. She then completed her residency at UW in 2008 and has been a practicing pediatrician in Madison since 2009. She lives in Middleton, WI, with her husband and three children.
Dr. Emily Blum

Dr. Blum graduated cum laude from Bowdoin College with special honors in Biology and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She received her medical doctorate from Boston University where she graduated cum laude and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha. While completing her residency at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan, Dr. Blum spent a significant amount of time working on urban farming community development campaigns in Detroit. Her community work lead to a nomination for the AAMC Resident Physician Community Service Award during her chief year.
Dr. Blum continued her training as the A. Barry Belman Pediatric Urology Fellow at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. During the research year of the 2-year fellowship program, she was also awarded the Joseph E Robert (JER), Jr. Fellowship for Pediatric Surgical Innovations. Dr. Blum’s research projects focused on utilizing artificial intelligence to assist in analyzing radiographic studies. She won top honors at the JER Academic Symposium both years.
She continues to pursue her interest in medical device innovations, particularly in bridging the gap between research and commercialization to improve patient care. Dr. Blum is a member of the research faculty at Georgia Tech and serves as a Medical Affairs Liaison for the Global Center for Medical Innovations.
In addition to general pediatric urology, Dr. Blum’s special surgical interests are in hypospadias and congenital hydronephrosis.
